Fin control

IAC 2026

This vehicle uses the adaptive control HANARO is researching to suppress the roll induced by disturbances in flight. Flight stabilisation and the roll-control programme were implemented successfully, and the results were presented at IAC 2026, an international conference.

Two-stage rocket

NURA 2026

Flown as a two-stage rocket at NURA, the Korean collegiate rocket competition. Stage separation uses hot staging, and the design minimises the thrust gap between stages. To shorten development and raise reliability, it reuses proven designs from Identity 3. The design apogee is 680 m.

Identity 3 Reefing Parachute

Verified

Reefing parachute

IAC 2026

This vehicle was developed and flown to verify a reefing parachute. Instead of the dual deployment that two separate parachutes provide, a reefing parachute changes the shape of a single canopy to control its drag area and so its descent rate. That frees up space inside the airframe and saves mass.

Payload ejection

NURA 2025

Entered NURA, a Korean collegiate rocket competition, as a payload-ejection rocket. The payload and its ejection system were carried in the upper parachute bay of Identity 3. The ejection system is pyrotechnic: it opens a door in the side of the airframe and pushes the payload out. The payload was flown to verify the terrain-relative navigation algorithm HANARO has been researching.

10,000 ft category

IREC 2025

Entered the 10,000 ft category of IREC, the world's largest collegiate rocket competition, and became the first Korean university team to successfully verify the complete flight sequence from ignition to recovery. It carried a payload developed by Korean Air in partnership with the team, alongside a deployable payload HANARO designed itself.

Dual deployment

NURA 2024

A general-purpose platform developed to verify the dual-deployment recovery system used on HARANG 2 and to carry a range of missions.
